Job Descriptions
Route Driver & Donation Collection Agent
The daily responsibilities of a Route Driver & Donation Collection Agent involves driving a step van (no CDL required), collecting donations (up to 100 or more each day) within the greater, 8-county Chicago metropolitan region, repetitive loading and unloading donations (up to 40 lbs. each), transporting baled and bagged recyclables, mapping or routing, and customer service. The driver/agent serves as the “face” of the respective charity, often interacting with donors.
An average day begins anywhere from 6:15 a.m. to 7 a.m. depending on the route assignment.
A valid driver’s license, DOT med card and acceptable motor vehicle record are required. It also is necessary to have the physical ability to safely lift, carry and maneuver donations of various size, shape and weight multiple times daily.
